The School-Age Care Environment Rating Scale is designed to assess out-of-school provision for children aged 5 to 12 years of age, for example in after-school clubs.

The Family Child Care Environment Rating Scale (FCCERS-R) assesses childminding provision for children from birth to school-age.

The FCCERS-R was developed by Thelma Harms, Debby Cryer and Richard Clifford at the University of North Carolina. Thelma Harms collaborated with Ellen Vineberg Jacobs and Donna Romano to write the SACERS.
